The Opportunity:
Ready to apply your AI and machine learning skills to real-world challenges? As a Junior AI Engineer, you'll be part of a mission-focused AI Delivery team supporting the U.S. Air Force. From day one, your passion for AI, curiosity about new technologies, and strong problem-solving mindset will help shape the future of national defense.
In this role, you'll help design, build, and deploy AI solutions that tackle complex operational problems. You'll work alongside experienced data scientists, M & S experts, and sof tware engineers to experiment with state-of-the-art machine learning ( ML ) models, evaluate their performance, and integrate them into production systems that support warfighter decision-making.
Whether it's applying foundational models, fine-tuning LLMs, or contributing to custom solutions, you'll get hands-on experience with a wide range of AI technologies. You'll also join a growing community of AI professionals focused on advancing responsible AI and scaling impact across the Department of the Air Force.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. You Have:
- Experience with AI, ML, or deep learning, including coursework, internships, research, open source, personal projects, or startup
- Experience with Python and ML frameworks or libraries, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, or scikit-learn
- Experience training, evaluating, or tuning ML models, including classification, regression, foundation models, or LLMs
- Experience developing or applying AI agents, autonomous systems, or multi-agent frameworks, including LangChain, AutoGPT, decision-making agents, or planning-based systems
- Ability to think critically about AI or ML system design, including model selection, tradeoffs, and real-world deployment considerations
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in a CS, Data Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field
Nice If You Have:
- Experience deploying ML models using Docker, FastAPI, or MLflow, working on team-based sof tware projects, or using version control such as Git
- Knowledge of responsible AI principles, LLMs, or MLOps best practices
- Ability to contribute to a cross-functional technical team, take initiative in exploring new tools, and adapt quickly to shifting priorities
- Master's degree in a related field
- CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Machine Learning - Spe cia lty, or similar Certification
