Senior Cloud Engineer - Top Secret Clearance

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to optimize the cloud infrastructure to boost performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, while refining the organization's cloud systems, streamlining operations, and ensuring that cloud services effectively drive business growth and innovation within the DOE. This position is fully onsite in Washington, DC.

Must have active Top Secret Clearance

Role & Responsibilities:

• Research, design, develop, test, debug and evaluate systems/applications that support cloud implementation and integrate with cloud service providers, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Monitor system performance and availability; Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
• Gather customer, user, and product owner requirements working together with application architects and product owners.
• Plan and conduct technical tasks associated with the implementation and maintenance of internal cloud enterprise shared virtualization infrastructure.
• Create functional design specifications, architectures, and render support with other cloud project deliverables.
• Develop and execute cloud solution roadmaps as they relate to business and execute company strategy to drive the achievement of business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Active Top-Secret Clearance required
• Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture- AWS/Azure/GCP web design application, auto-scaling, load balancing, and database failover
• Networking and Connectivity- Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), VPNs, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateways
• Cloud security- implementation of Identity and Access Management (IAM) in cloud environments and best practices
• Automation and DevOps- automate the deployment of infrastructure in AWS/Azure/GCP using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM Templates
• Performance Optimization- diagnosing and resolving performance issues in a cloud-based application. Fixing issues with storage, compute, and network performance. Cloud monitoring and logging services - CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Stackdriver
• Cost Management -preventing cost overruns and optimize resource usage using Reserved Instances or Savings Plans to reduce long-term costs in AWS/Azure/GCP
• Backup strategies and disaster recovery planning.
• Containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Cloud-based databases and their configurations.
• Incident Management and Troubleshooting problem-solving and troubleshooting experience in cloud environments.
• Serverless computing and its use cases.
• CI/CD processes in a cloud environment.
• Log management and monitoring tools.
• Multi-cloud architectures and challenges.

Compensation:

$170,000k -180,000k**depending on experience and degree**
