Cloud Architect
Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to design, implement, and manage secure and scalable cloud solutions in support of mission-critical systems for a DoD customer. The ideal candidate will provide expert engineering and technical direction across cloud platforms, working closely with developers, system administrators, and network engineers to optimize workflows and ensure compliance with DoD security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deploy scalable, secure cloud architectures in alignment with DoD and mission requirements.
Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance across all phases of the cloud solution lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, and optimization.
Manage virtual networks, cloud compute resources, and storage in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Implement automation and orchestration using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
Ensure compliance with DoD security frameworks and manage risk mitigation strategies.
Evaluate architectural alternatives for IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid cloud models.
Advise leadership and stakeholders on cloud technologies, strategies, and best practices.
Support agile teams using DevSecOps methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Work collaboratively with security, development, and operations teams to integrate cloud solutions into enterprise systems.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in technical architecture and cloud design.
Proficiency with virtualization, orchestration, multi-tenancy, and scalable cloud architectures.
Experience deploying solutions within DoD-accredited cloud environments.
Strong understanding of security controls and compliance in cloud computing.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical solutions to both executive and technical audiences.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline.
Industry certifications such as:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
CISSP or CASP+
Experience with:
Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Virtualization tools (e.g., VMware, OpenShift)
Programming/scripting languages: Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell
Agile methodologies and collaboration platforms
