We are seeking a Senior Computer Engineer to support the U.S. Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme.

Position Description:
You will be part of a team of approximately 10 senior Computer Engineers providing full life cycle support for the Navy's combat systems and support equipment managed by the Naval Warfare Center Port Hueneme. This work will encompass a full range of Integrated Product Support Services (IPSS) that are complex and involve a network of interrelated tasks that streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and minimize the total cost of ownership throughout the product's life cycle.
Work location and telework:
The government work location is Port Hueneme, CA, and you may be required to support the customer up to 5 days a week. Some teleworking or work from the contractor's location may be possible with the customers' approval.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Research, design, develop, and test computer hardware and software systems.
- Design and evaluate computer hardware components, including chips, circuit boards, systems, and peripheral equipment such as keyboards, modems, and printers.
- Oversee the manufacturing and installation of computer hardware and related equipment.
- Develop and implement software systems that control computers and other digital devices.
- Apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematics to design, test, and evaluate software applications and systems.
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into functional software solutions.
- Design and develop software for various purposes, including operating systems, network distribution, and compilers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software-related technical issues.
- Focus on algorithm development and problem-solving beyond basic programming tasks.
- Utilize programming languages such as C, C++, and Java, with occasional use of Fortran and COBOL.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's level degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with a field of concentration in computer science
- 7 years of professional experience in computer design, software development, or computer networks
Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with a field of concentration in computer science
- 10 or more years, experience working at NSWC Port Hueneme or another Navy location
- Experience creating novel approaches to migrating systems and advancing the use of AI and machine learning
Travel Requirements:
- Travel should be limited, possibly 1-3 trips per year lasting 3-5 days per trip
- Limited travel to the continental United States (primarily east and west coasts)
- Possible overseas travel
