Job Description
Are you willing to learn and collaborate with an expansive team of talented software and system engineers on the modernization of hardware and migration of software on Korean Navy Destroyers and other USN supported FMS programs? If so, come join BAE as a software developer/engineer.
This position is for an individual who will be a part of an integrated program team working a naval defense system primarily utilizing Ada programming language. In addition to Ada, other languages like C and C++ may also be used for other components of the weapon control system.
The individual must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, and make value added assessments.
The candidate will support the rehost of existing computer programs, software development, problem resolution, software testing/analysis, software configuration management, review of software design changes, and will work closely with customers to ensure deliverables meet their expectations and arrive in a timely manner.
The candidate must be able communicate with diverse sets of external engineers to drive the Weapons Direction System (WDS) rehost and development from concept to implementation and test.
Occasional travel will be required to various facilities to participate in system testing
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
• B.S. degree in STEM discipline and 5+ years of programming experience (3+ years with M.S.), OR,
• In lieu of degree, 10+ years of programming experience of combat/weapon systems
• Experience in Real-time embedded software development
• Experience with ADA or C++
• Develop, maintain, and test code by utilizing software development environments and programming languages.
• Knowledge of software migration and system rehosting
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
• Must be able to support US and foreign travel
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
• M.S. degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Experience/Expertise with ADA, C, and C++ software programming languages, and VxWorks OS
• Experience with STANDARD Missile, Weapons Direction Systems, or Ships Systems Integration - particularly WDS Mk 14 influenced designs
• Experience with VME environments
• Experience in weapon system/defense software development of complex and high reliability software.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and quality assurance methodologies.
• Participation in Land-Based Test Site (LBTS) and shipboard test events
• Experience with USN and USN supported FMS customers
• Experience within the DOD community
• Active DOD Secret level security clearance
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115779 - $196825
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
