Job Description

Job Title: Temporary to Hire: Temporary Desktop/ Asset Management role with the intent of evolving into a Computer Operator/ Tier II Help Desk Technician

Location: Richmond, VA (on-site)

Overview

Comptech is currently seeking additional support for desktop and asset management to assist our customer, the Defense Logistics Agency, with an upcoming one-time equipment relocation project.

This 40 hour per week paid temporary position starts in mid-August and continues for the duration of the project - approximately three (3) months. The hourly rate is $15, and this temporary position does not offer standard benefits, health insurance or PTO.

During this temporary assignment the individual will work towards and earn their CompTIA Security + certification ( for which CompTech will reimburse the cost of taking the test) and also be put through for Secret Security Clearance ( handled by CompTech), at which point they will be offered a Computer Operator, Tier II Help Desk Technician position, between $45k - $50k, including benefits package.

Scope of Work for the Temporary Role:

(All work will be performed under the guidance of on-site Technicians)
  • Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and administration of tasks, ensuring that quality and productivity standards are maintained while adhering to customer schedules


Disassembly of all IT equipment from the desks
  • Monitors, docking stations, zero clients, keyboards, speakers etc.
  • All the cables and power supplies and power strips

Assembly
  • Install all monitors
  • Hook up docking station and/or zero client-connect to the network through desk phone
  • Hook up mouse, speakers (if applicable), and keyboard
  • Connect phone to network with supplied network cable and connect all necessary cables and cords


Required Qualifications
  • Legal right to work in the United State
  • Have an ability to get and hold a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check with Credit Check (NACLC)
  • Must have valid state driver's license, personal vehicle and proof of insurance.


*The temporary role will require onsite travel to various locations as needed, using a personal vehicle, to perform system upgrades, maintenance, and support activities.

Overview

CompTech is seeking a qualified Computer Operator to support the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The ideal candidate will assist in the technical operation and testing of fully integrated computer-based systems in a supervised environment. This position requires local travel using personal vehicle, company van, cart or other motorized vehicle.

Scope of Work

  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize a diverse workload of assigned service tickets.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new policies and evolving technologies within this dynamic technical environment.
  • Adept at interpreting and adhering to guidance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provided by contract and government leadership.
  • Proficiency in operating a diverse range of system components, including hardware, software, and mass storage technology.
  • Capability, under supervision, to operate communications-computer systems, as well as install, implement, maintain, and optimize operating systems, disk and tape management systems, and computer operations automation software.
  • Anticipates problems, identifies deviations and acts through resolution.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Certification Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • One (1) year of Help Desk or Deskside Support experience
  • DLA CE Cert IA Role/Function: Help Desk Tier II & III - may be obtained upon hire
  • Security+ CE

Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Secret
