Job Summary:
The Application Developer will help design, develop, and implement process-driven applications using BPM platforms, such as Appian. The developer will collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, testers, and system administrators to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. This role involves end-to-end ownership of BPM applications-from business logic and process modeling to UI design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop business logic, process flows, and UI screens for BPM-based applications.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to analyze requirements, prototype solutions, and validate user story acceptance criteria.
- Develop and maintain BPM solutions, including plug-in and API integrations.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure accurate implementation, testing, and configuration management.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, design data models, and apply database best practices (indexes, triggers, structures).
- Perform unit testing, debugging, and technical troubleshooting.
- Partner with DevOps team members to ensure smooth and timely release cycles.
- Prepare and maintain SDLC documentation as required.
- Implement and uphold security best practices to safeguard data and infrastructure.
- Support Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to achieving sprint and release goals.
- Provide production support and resolve technical issues promptly.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience developing applications on BPM platforms (e.g., Appian).
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Angular and Node.js.
- Strong understanding of Appian components, including SAIL, process models, records, interfaces, and data types.
- Proficiency in Appian expression language, query rules, and report building.
- Experience with BPM platform integrations (REST/SOAP, RPA, etc.).
- Familiarity with container orchestration and scalability solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Appian Developer Certification (Associate Developer or higher).
- Experience integrating with Login.gov, Microsoft B2C, or Pay.gov.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevSecOps practices.
- Understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, or Kanban.
- Strong consulting mindset-focused on delivering outcomes, structured problem-solving, and empathetic communication with clients.
