Description

Vistra is seeking a Prevention Technical Assistance Specialist with high level understanding of prevention science and public health practice to provide proactive and responsive technical assistance to personnel on prevention planning, implementation, and evaluation.

This position is primarily remote but is required to reside in the National Capital Region (NCR), with ad hoc on-site requirements at the Mark Center and/or Pentagon.
  • Design training and practical learning tools (e.g., workshops, capacity-building resources) with expert level facilitation and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate prevention policies and programs
  • Translate statistical or technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences
  • Advise and train personnel on effective use of data, dashboards, and evaluation best practices to strengthen prevention efforts
  • Work independently, with some guidance, to ensure high fidelity of training and technical assistance activities with relevance to the military environment
  • Prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of stakeholders in alignment with DoD style expectations
  • Perform other tasks as assigned


Requirements

  • Master's degree in public health, prevention science, behavioral science, education, or related field
  • 5+ years of directly related experience
  • Experience designing and delivering large-scale technical assistance or training in prevention, public health, or related fields
  • Ability to critically think, examine complex issues, and identify gaps and possible solutions/improvements to problems
  • Experience using dashboards, metrics, or evaluation tools to support decision-making and capacity-building
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention policies and programs
  • Experience translating statistical or technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in public health, prevention science, behavioral science, education, or related field
  • Experience working in a military environment
  • Experience with creating verbal and written communication products for clients, including presentations and information papers
  • Experience engaging and facilitating diverse stakeholders (e.g., employees, Service members, military leaders)
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods and program evaluation methodology
  • Knowledge of adult learning best practices
