Solutions Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with deep expertise in enterprise and solution architectures, cloud technologies, and IT service delivery to support federal enterprise initiatives. The Solution Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining "as-is" and "to-be" architectures, ensuring compliance with DoDAF and DoD standards, and guiding the design of mission-aligned solutions across complex IT domains. This role requires both technical breadth and strategic acumen to align IT strategy with mission outcomes, reducing technical debt, improving efficiency, and enabling innovation.

We are seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with deep expertise in enterprise and solution architectures, cloud technologies, and IT service delivery to support federal enterprise initiatives. The Solution Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining "as-is" and "to-be" architectures, ensuring compliance with DoDAF and DoD standards, and guiding the design of mission-aligned solutions across complex IT domains. This role requires both technical breadth and strategic acumen to align IT strategy with mission outcomes, reducing technical debt, improving efficiency, and enabling innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and maintain enterprise and solution architectures in compliance with DoDAF, DoD IEA, and other federal standards
- Produce architectures that document systems, capabilities, security boundaries, and transition plans to reduce technical debt and improve mission outcomes
- Support review boards, prepare briefing packages, adjudicate stakeholder comments, and ensure alignment with governance processes
- Maintain configuration control of architecture baselines, repositories, and artifacts.
- Translate mission strategy into actionable roadmaps and reference architectures.
- Provide guidance on new requirements, technology evaluations, and integration approaches
- Design secure, resilient solutions incorporating cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), virtualization, data center modernization, microservices, and hybrid environments
- Apply Secure-by-Design and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to ensure interoperability, scalability, and compliance with DoD/Federal policy
- Ensure architectures support enterprise IT services, lifecycle replacement planning, and technical refresh baselines
- Conduct reviews to identify gaps, risks, redundancies, and opportunities for consolidation.
- Recommend modernization strategies such as hybrid cloud migration, AI/ML integration, and automation of architecture processes.
- Provide white papers, technical briefs, and recommendations to leadership to inform investment and strategic planning decisions
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive IT/architecture experience in a DoD or federal environment.
- Expert knowledge of DoDAF views, artifacts, and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, DoD IL5/IL6 environments, hybrid architectures).
- Strong background in IT service delivery, enterprise systems, and infrastructure (networking, security, data center, mobility, unified comms).
- Proficiency with architecture modeling tools (Cameo, Sparx EA, System Architect).
- Understanding of secure design practices (RMF, NIST 800-53, STIGs, Secure-by-Design).
