What you'll do
Viasat's UHF SATCOM business is actively improving and modernizing our various software and hardware products. We have developed a comprehensive range of software products that offer channel control and network terminal capabilities for military satellite communications. Our products have been deployed by the US military and many foreign allies for many years at numerous customer sites to meet crucial satellite communication needs for warfighters around the globe in all weather and terrain conditions.
The candidate will work alongside experienced and knowledgeable software engineers and perform work that will continue to enhance and strengthen Viasat's global leadership in UHF SATCOM-related technologies.
The day-to-day
We provide a dynamic and flexible work environment where engineers are encouraged and expected to take the initiative and apply their problem-solving skills and creativity to software design and resolve technical issues. Our software engineers employ cutting-edge software technology and tools for their development and continue to look for new ways to improve our development environment and workflow.

Salary range
$83,500.00 - $132,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $104,000.00- $156,000.00/ annually

Additional Information:
- This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

What you'll need
Requirements:
- Education: Completion of Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience: This role is intended for someone with 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience
- Citizenship: This position requires U.S. citizenship
- Additional:
- Experiences with C/C++ and Python
- Exposure to JavaScript or TypeScript and web development
- Familiarity with RDBMS technologies (MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
What will help you on the job
- Experiences with Visual Studio IDE and C#/.NET
- Experiences with embedded software programming concepts and tools
- Experiences using version control and issue tracking tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Perforce, etc.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. secret security clearance
