This senior-level Full Stack Software Engineer will lead and contribute to the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and user-centered digital services for the public sector. As a Software Engineer III, you will work across the full stack-from frontend frameworks to backend APIs and infrastructure integration-within Agile delivery teams supporting high-impact federal programs. The team will leverage Agile, DevSecOps, and user-centered design practices to deliver scalable, high-impact digital services that enhance transparency, compliance, and accessibility. Efforts include building modern APIs and web interfaces, implementing Zero Trust security, automating testing and deployments, and driving continuous improvement through cloud-native and AI-enabled solutions.

Minimum Salary: $102,540
Salary Midpoint: $133,302
Maximum Salary: $164,064

Your Responsibilities in This Role:
- Lead development of frontend and backend components for responsive, accessible, and performant applications using modern frameworks.
- Build RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs that integrate with databases, third-party services, and cloud-native tools.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, code reviews, and product demos with designers, DevOps engineers, and product owners.
- Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Jest, Mocha, Cypress, or Pytest.
- Ensure UIs comply with Section 508 and WCAG standards using tools like axe-core, pa11y, or manual testing techniques.
- Adhere to OWASP guidelines, integrate secure coding practices, and support FedRAMP/FISMA compliance efforts.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps engineers to enable continuous integration, automated testing, code scanning, and deployment pipelines.
- Maintain clear and reusable code documentation, API specs, and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and help elevate the team's technical maturity.
Work Experience
Skills and Qualifications We Require at Fearless:
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- 7+ years of experience in professional software engineering.
- Fluency in one or more frontend frameworks.
- Fluency in one or more backend languages.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs; GraphQL a plus.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of cloud platforms and associated services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI.
- Working knowledge of Git, code versioning strategies, and trunk-based development.
- Commitment to inclusive design, accessibility, and user-centered development.
- Familiarity with security-first development, including NIST 800-53, OWASP, and Zero Trust principles
- BS/MS/MEng in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technology-related degree.
- Experience working with government or large industry clients.

- Experience working on federal digital services or within an Agile government delivery team.
- Knowledge of 508 compliance tools and testing.
- Prior experience working with containerized environments.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience building and deploying Drupal frontends, or integrating headless CMS systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
- Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
- Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).
- The role will require working primarily on-site in Washington, D.C. for at least the first six months of the project.
