Job Summary
VSolvit is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to manage mid-level database operations including maintenance, tuning, and security. This position ensures data availability, supports application teams, and implements technical improvements across environments.
As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Job Summary
VSolvit is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to manage mid-level database operations including maintenance, tuning, and security. This position ensures data availability, supports application teams, and implements technical improvements across environments.

Responsibilities
Monitor and optimize database performance and storage
Apply patches and upgrades in test and production environments
Manage backup and recovery procedures- Ensure user access control in compliance with security policies
- Support system integration and data migrations
- Ensure compliance with DoD/Federal cybersecurity requirements, including NIST, RMF, and DISA STIGs
- Oversee incident response, risk management, and business continuity planning
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Oracle Database technologies
- Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate Oracle databases with various front-end technologies
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database triggers to support backend applications
- Perform database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure high performance and availability
- Ensure database security, backups, and data integrity in compliance with best practices and security protocols
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
- Work closely with system architects to design and implement scalable database solutions
- Provide technical support for database-related issues and system upgrades
- Document database designs, processes, and configurations
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3–5 years of experience as a database administrator
- Proficient with enterprise RDBMS systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active or interim DoD Secret Clearance
- If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-availability environments
- Knowledge of STIGs, vulnerability scanning, and DoD audit standards
