Opportunity:

VSO is seeking a Managed Services Practice Lead who will be responsible for end-to-end management of the Managed suite of services delivered by the VSO Virtual Service Quality Operations Division (vSQOD), combining consulting expertise with ongoing management and administration of client infrastructures. This role requires leadership in both pre- and post-implementation services, including strategy and offering development, architecture design, and ongoing optimization and support. The Practice Lead will provide oversight across all of VSO's managed services engagements. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, client-facing experience, and the ability to lead a cross-functional team delivering comprehensive IT solutions. Primarily, the Managed Services Practice Lead will be charged with:
  • Defining the services we sell in the Managed Services space
  • Defining standards of how we deliver those services
Job Responsibilities:
  • Practice Development and Strategy Development to drive the vision and strategic direction for the Managed Services practice, in alignment with company goals and emerging trends.
  • Design and refine the services that VSO delivers within the practice, including migration, optimization, and management.
  • Provide clear statements on supported knowledge areas within the practice.
  • Establish best practices and standards to be implemented across all engagements within the practice.
  • Regularly assess market trends, technologies, and client needs to adapt VSO's service offerings, thereby ensuring their continued market relevance.
  • Drive the achievement of industry certifications for the organization (ISO, CMMC, etc).
  • Build thought leadership through white papers, webinars, and industry conferences, positioning the company as a leader in managed services.
  • Maintain an awareness of revenue and profitability of services within the practice.
  • Client Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Work closely with sales teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities in managed services, with special emphasis on repeatable solution scoping and proposal development assistance.
  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with key clients, ensuring alignment between VSO's offerings and client business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business needs and helping shape IT strategies that align with their goals, especially through participation in quarterly business reviews.
  • Ensure delivery excellence, overseeing the delivery of solutions that meet clients' expectations in terms of quality, timeline, and budget.
  • Provide escalation support for projects that require it.
  • In order to stay relevant and build trusted customer relationships, perform billable work on client engagements, with a target utilization of 50%.
    Team Leadership and Oversight Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT support personnel in Managed Service team environment, fostering a collaborative, learning-oriented culture.
  • Provide clear guidance for the development of skills within the practice
  • Support the Recruiting team in screening candidates for technical and cultural fit.
  • Establish and maintain job roles and career tracks for personnel within the practice, with certification goals aligned to the different positions.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and mentorship of team members.
  • Collaborate with Account Delivery and Operations Leads to allocate resources across projects, ensuring optimal utilization and successful outcomes.
  • Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Monitor KPIs to assess and report on the performance of the cloud practice, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with other practice leads and senior leadership to support firm-wide initiatives and optimize resource planning.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise IT, with expertise in consulting, cloud administration, and management of IT infrastructures.
  • 5+ years of experience end-to-end running / managing the operations of a Managed Service team
  • Strong leadership experience, including team management and client-facing roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of hybrid and multiple cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Expertise in multi-tenant services management.
  • Understanding of automation tools, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven experience in enterprise IT operations, including monitoring, incident management, backup/recovery, and cost optimization.
  • Strong communication and client management skills, with a track record of delivering solutions that meet business needs.
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Experience with automation tools, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cost management and financial optimization strategies.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with proven technical experience, expert in critical thinking and customer care.
  • Advanced degrees are a plus.
