Satellite Mission Ops Manager - Key Summary
Lead a team of spacecraft operators and manage mission operations, ground infrastructure, and on-orbit activities. Role covers mission design, planning, spacecraft testing, operations, and anomaly resolution in a fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead development of spacecraft CONOPS, mission planning, and operational simulations
- Build, train, and manage the spacecraft operations team
- Support flight software configuration, spacecraft checkout, and pre-launch testing
- Conduct on-orbit operations, data analysis, and anomaly resolution
- Develop mission planning, orbit determination, and automation tools (Python)
- Interface with customers and ground station networks
- Collaborate with spacecraft systems engineering
- Work flexible hours as needed to support mission ops
Required Experience
- Team leadership in spacecraft operations
- Automated mission ops development
- Mission CONOPS planning/execution
- Python programming and mission-design tools (FreeFlyer, STK, etc.)
- Data analysis for performance validation and anomaly detection
- Ground segment and comm-chain familiarity
- Strong technical and communication skills
Desired Experience
- Spacecraft avionics, failure modes, and debugging
- Orbital mechanics and OD techniques
- GN&C simulation/testing
- DoD/USG program experience; ability to hold a clearance
Education
- BS in Aerospace Engineering or related field
- 10+ years relevant experience
