Responsibilities:
- Manage the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN / WAN systems.
- Assist in the planning for large-scale projects through vendor comparison and cost studies.
- Develop and maintain secure and highly efficient network architectures for both classified and unclassified systems.
- Support implementation, configuration, operations, and maintenance of multiple systems.
- Configure network hardware and software, including firewalls, routers, and switches, with attention to security and scalability.
- Proactively monitor network performance and reliability, identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
- Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, maintaining minimal downtime and effective contingency planning.
- Deploy and maintain network security protocols in compliance with government regulations and DoD standards.
- Design and manage networking solutions that integrate on-premises systems with cloud environments.
- Ensure all systems meet regulatory requirements, performing audits and preparing documentation as needed.
- Work closely with cybersecurity teams to align network operations with organizational security goals.
Qualifications Required:
- 10+ years of experience working as a Network Engineer or in a related field.
- Extensive experience in network design and administration for classified and unclassified environments.
- Installing, configuring, and managing network switches, routers, firewalls, and related devices.
- Proficiency with Active Directory, domain controllers, IP addressing, DNS, remote access, VLANs, and VoIP systems.
- Deep understanding of cloud networking technologies (Azure, AWS, Nutanix, VMWare, or similar platforms)
- Expertise in networking protocols (TCP/IP, VPN, BGP, etc.) and security standards.
- Familiarity with DoD compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, STIGs).
- Experience with enterprise-level network monitoring and management tools.
- Proficient in traditional on-premises and cloud-based networking services, solutions, and tools.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in an IT-related field such as Computer Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, or AWS/Azure networking certifications are highly desirable.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have a Secret DoD Security Clearance.
