Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: receive, interpret, evaluate, and immediately decide as to what action is appropriate and implement that course of action.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education

- The Desk Sergeant must interpret existing DA, Federal, State, local laws and ordinances, rules and regulations as they pertain to law enforcement.
- The Desk Sergeant is solely responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Military Issue and Commercial Intrusion Detections Systems located on the Desk.
- The Desk Sergeant is the initial point of contact for all persons, activities, visitors and complainants either in person or telephonically regarding any activity that require police actions.

- Able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance
- Must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date,
- Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, assessed for emotional stability, judgment, adjusting to changes, work effectively under pressure and emergencies.
- Must complete of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT) as outline in "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
- Must be able to pass training, certification and qualification requirements related Law Enforcement work functions to include: weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS)training requirements.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- In accordance the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position; and is subject to removal from the position if found convicted after being employed
- Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Convictions that occurred before January 20, 2001 are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement.
- Mission Essential designated position during Inclement Weather Conditions or emergency conditions. In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
- Able to obtain and maintain a US valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- You may be expected to travel a 10% of the time for this position.
- Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals
- Must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
