The Team and the Role
IND US is a 100% employee-owned, customer-focused government services provider with expertise in Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Program/Financial Management, Logistics, and Data Analytics. At IND US , we believe in the value of the IND US team. Together we deliver exceptional customer service, foster a growth and support-centered work environment, and focus on how we can give back to the communities that we serve. Empowering our employees starts on day one and creates an environment full of innovation and promise. By offering mentorship and robust Training and Development opportunities, IND US continues its pursuit to be the Employer of Choice.
INDUS supports Air Force fighter squadrons in Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), United States Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA), and other MAJCOMs. Aircrew surveys from 2020 to 2024 indicate up to 99% of fighter pilots experience flying-related spinal pain during their careers. These issues - affecting the neck, upper back, and lower back - impact cockpit performance, daily activities, readiness, and retention. Additionally, as the U.S. Air Force continues to prepare for conflict against peer competitors, our Warfighters face increasing cognitive performance demand, driven by rapidly advancing technologies leveraged both by allies and adversaries. Effective integration of physical and cognitive performance training is required for success in complex, denied environments. The Optimizing the Human Weapons System (OHWS) program addresses these concerns by preparing aircrew for the unique demands of fighter operations. Additionally, Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports estimate replacement costs exceed $10M per pilot, reinforcing the high return on investment for OHWS services in improving retention and readiness.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Athletic Trainer (AT) serves as an embedded healthcare provider supporting active-duty Air Force fighter aircrew, delivering musculoskeletal care, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and human performance optimization to enhance readiness and longevity on the OHWS Support Services contract. Working under the supervision of physician or physical therapist and in accordance with required credentialing, the AT will provide assessments and interventions that reduce injury risk, speed return to duty, and improve overall aircrew performance and retention. The ideal candidate has experience utilizing a range of principles and methodologies to provide examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcome assessment for assigned personnel to include but not limited to operational provision of care associated with individual assessments, injury prevention and human performance interventions of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions in support of personnel readiness. This position is located in Sacramento, CA (Beale AFB).
