Waypoint's client is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide comprehensive engineering support to Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (SOF AT&L) at MacDill Air Force Base. This full-time role supports the evaluation, planning, development, and execution of acquisition programs that directly impact the operational readiness and capability of U.S. Special Operations Forces.
The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in reviewing engineering processes, conducting technical evaluations, managing project surveillance, and supporting leadership with expert-level analysis and recommendations.

Waypoint's client is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide comprehensive engineering support to Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (SOF AT&L) at MacDill Air Force Base. This full-time role supports the evaluation, planning, development, and execution of acquisition programs that directly impact the operational readiness and capability of U.S. Special Operations Forces.
The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in reviewing engineering processes, conducting technical evaluations, managing project surveillance, and supporting leadership with expert-level analysis and recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
- Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
- Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, and projects.
- Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
- Support government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
- Provides advanced inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
- Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval. Supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort. Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
- Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
- Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
- Provides significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
- Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
- Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active Secret clearance
- DAWIA Practitioner (formerly Level II) Equivalency in Program Management, Engineering & Technical Management, or Test & Evaluation - or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
- 10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs
- Demonstrated expertise in multidisciplinary engineering principles, system design, and program management
- Experience applying advanced scientific, environmental, and emerging technologies to system planning, development, operations, maintenance, repair, and modernization
- Strong skills in preparing, interpreting, and communicating engineering concepts and technical documentation, including test plans, acquisition reviews, and working drawings
- Proficiency with CAD or similar graphical systems and experience supporting procurement and production of systems/subsystems in compliance with DoD 5000.02
- Ability to coordinate engineering and maintenance programs, manage budgets, support strategic planning, and apply contracting principles and project management tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, MS Project)
- Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Master's degree in an engineering field and 8 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs
