The Opportunity: We are seeking a cleared DevOps Engineer to join our mission-focused team supporting complex operational deployments. This individual must bring deep experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, including advanced networking knowledge and hands-on proficiency with Puppet, and Ansible. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting production environments. You'll also support Tier 3/4 escalations, which may involve reading and understanding Java code for effective debugging. You will be empowered to identify opportunities to enhance and modernize our largely Puppet-based deployment pipelines. This is a hands-on, high-impact engineering role where your contributions will directly affect our delivery capabilities. Responsibilities:
- Support operational deployments by installing, configuring, and maintaining RHEL-based environments
- Develop and maintain automation and configuration management solutions using Puppet and Ansible •
- Support Tier 3/4 escalations including deep-dive troubleshooting across infrastructure and application layers
- Analyze and interpret Java, Javascript, and Python code to assist with debugging and root cause analysis
- Improve deployment processes and reduce manual interventions through scripting and tool integration • Collaborate with software developers, infrastructure teams, and cybersecurity engineers to deliver secure, scalable systems
- Document installation procedures, troubleshooting guides, and deployment workflows
- Assist with maintaining CI/CD pipelines and monitoring solutions for production reliability
Required Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- 5+ years of related experience and degree or 9 years of related experience in lieu of degree
- Must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE) within 45 days of hire
- Extensive experience with RHEL systems, including command-line administration and network configuration/troubleshooting (e.g., routing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP)
- Proficiency with Puppet and Ansible for configuration management and automation
- Ability to read and interpret Java, Javascript, and Python code for debugging support
- Familiarity with version control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitLab, Jenkins)
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across the full stack: OS, network, application
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Helm charts for Kubernetes application deployment and configuration; willingness to stand up and maintain Kubernetes clusters in support of evolving operational needs
- Experience working in environments governed by STIGs, NIST 800-171, or other security baselines
