Who We Are

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking multiple Simulation and Modeling Engineers at our Crane, Indiana location. We are seeking both a seasoned Subject Matter Expert (SME) and a motivated Junior Engineers in Advanced Simulation & Modeling, with emphasis on Systems Tool Kit (STK). The SME will lead mission analysis, scenario development, and multi-domain simulation efforts, driving technical innovation and mentoring junior staff while providing authoritative guidance on aerospace and defense programs. The Junior Engineer roles are ideal for early-career professionals with foundational STK experience who are eager to grow their expertise in mission analysis and simulation under the mentorship of senior engineers. Together, these roles support high-impact projects shaping the future of defense and aerospace operations.

What You Will Do

Senior Roles:
  • Lead complex STK scenario development for space, air, and ground systems
  • Conduct mission analysis, coverage studies, and trade-off evaluations for satellite constellations and defense systems
  • Integrate STK with external tools (MATLAB, Python, C++, Simulink) for automated workflows
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to define simulation requirements and deliverables
  • Author technical reports, white papers, and presentations for internal and external audiences

Junior Roles:
  • Support STK scenario creation for satellite, aircraft, and ground systems
  • Assist in coverage analysis, trajectory modeling, and system performance evaluation
  • Automate basic workflows using Python or MATLAB
  • Document results and contribute to technical reports
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to learn best practices in simulation and modeling


What We Are Looking For

Senior Roles:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in simulation, modeling, and mission analysis
  • Expert-level proficiency in STK, including scripting and API integration
  • Strong background in orbital mechanics, trajectory optimization, and communication link analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and deliver complex projects
  • TS/SCI clearance

Junior Roles:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in simulation/modeling (internship or academic project experience acceptable)
  • Familiarity with STK and basic scripting (Python, MATLAB)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Secret clearance


Preferred: Bonus Points For...

Senior Roles:
  • Experience with DoD mission planning
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations and uncertainty analysis
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Junior Roles:
  • Exposure to mission planning, or systems engineering coursework
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • TS/SCI clearance
