Senior Systems Engineer

BigBear.ai is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team and assist in meeting the needs of our government customers. In this role, you'll work onsite at the assigned customer location, ensuring optimized system performance, security, and reliability. What you will do
- Monitor & Optimize Systems: Oversee the customer's Risk Management Framework and related systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Support System Upgrades: Patch, upgrade, and migrate Linux systems and virtual machines (VMs) to maintain system integrity and performance.
- Contribute to Agile Development: Participate in agile activities, including release planning, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to incorporate lessons learned into engineering processes.
- Collaborate with Developers: Work closely with developers throughout the application development lifecycle to build features that deliver value to our customers.
What you need to have
- Experience: Bachelor's degree and 20+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly (required).
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency with Linux, including a minimum of 2 years of Linux system administration experience.
- Experience patching and upgrading Linux servers and networking resources.
- Hands-on experience with virtual machines (VMs).
- Certifications: Security+ certification (required).
What we'd like you to have
- Experience with Dell and HPE Linux servers.
- Familiarity with Juniper and Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls.
- Proficiency with automation tools like Ansible.
- Experience with Nutanix for VM management.
- Familiarity with Rubrik for data storage solutions.
- Knowledge of Nomad containers and SALT scripts.
- Experience with network monitoring tools like LibreNMS.
- Familiarity with NetBox for network documentation and management.
