Data Scientist

Kavaliro is seeking a Data Scientist to support a client in Virginia. REQUIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE
The Contractor shall have the following required skills, certifications, and demonstrated experience:

• Demonstrated experience in two or more of the following disciplines: business analytics, statistics, data verification and validation, and data visualization.
  
• Demonstrated experience applying qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods to business or intelligence problems.
  
• Demonstrated experience using Tableau, Power BI, or similar interactive data visualization software.
  
• Demonstrated experience transforming, manipulating, and combining data using Python, including libraries used for data analysis and modeling.
  
• Demonstrated experience using SQL and Excel.
  
• Demonstrated experience conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences verbally and through written analytic reports.
  
• Demonstrated experience creating data visualization mockups, prototypes, documenting work processes, and demonstrating products to technical and non-technical audiences.
  
• Demonstrated experience interpreting data models and working with diverse data sources and structures.
  
• Demonstrated experience translating customer requirements into project or system specifications.
  
• Demonstrated experience as a self-starter with the ability to decompose ambiguous problems into actionable plans.
  
• Demonstrated exposure to machine learning concepts, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs).

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE
Skills and experience that are highly desired but not required include:

• Demonstrated experience with data derived from technical missions, taskings, collection, processing, analysis, or dissemination.
  
• Demonstrated experience working with Sponsor business or mission data, Sponsor applications, or Sponsor database structures.
  
• Demonstrated experience with Sponsor data handling procedures.
  
• Demonstrated experience using GitHub or similar version control systems.
  
• Demonstrated experience using Python or R for advanced analytics or modeling.
  
• Experience developing or deploying analytics or ML solutions involving LLMs, CNNs, or applied AI use cases.
  
• Experience with Android development and/or Raspberry Pi (RaspPI) systems is a significant plus, particularly for prototyping, edge computing, or sensor-based data applications.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Information Systems
  OR
  
• Four (4) years of relevant data analysis experience supporting the IC or military may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Location:

• Chantilly, VA
• This position is onsite and there is no remote availability.

Clearance Requirement:

• Candidates must have an active TS/SCI security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph
