Outside Machinist

We have an exciting opportunity for Outside Machinists at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must hold active security clearance
• Must have 6 or more years of experience as a marine outside machinist
• Dry dock experience on shafts, rudders, stabilizers and propellers is preferred.
• Disassembles of various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry including but not limited to pumps, valves, winches, gear boxes.
• Assist in determining repairs and required to bring equipment to rebuild status.
• Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes
• Experience with valve overhaul and hull inserts
• Installation of lift check valve
• Testing main engines
• Hydrostatic testing
• Lube and oil flushing
• Air conditioning hydro
• Installation of valve and pump packing
• Install turbine
• Install boiler tube replacement
• Fit and blue check liners
• Install steam valves
• Installation of hydraulic systems
• Shafting and bearing work
• Blueprint reading

HOURS:

• May work 8,10 or 12 hours shifts determined by the project.

PAY:

• $30 Hr +
