Sr. Data Engineer

Location: Washington, DC - supporting federal data and analytics operations

Blue Rose Consulting Group, Inc. (Blue Rose) is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to support a federal client in building and scaling a robust data analytics platform using Databricks for a highly visible online product.

In this role, you will be a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-scale data pipelines and infrastructure. You will play a key role in transforming how data is accessed, managed, and utilized, directly enabling data scientists, analysts, and product teams to deliver data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions at the national level.

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Data Engineer , you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, production-grade data pipelines on the Databricks Unified Data Analytics Platform
  • Engineer and optimize batch and streaming data workflows, including Apache Kafka-based streaming pipelines
  • Lead development and optimization of robust ETL processes to improve data quality, availability, and scalability
  • Design and support data ingestion from multiple source systems, including APIs and event-driven architectures
  • Architect and maintain cloud-based data solutions within AWS environments to support analytics and product use cases
  • Optimize data infrastructure, storage, performance, and reliability across large-scale datasets
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to enable advanced product analytics
  • Work within an Agile software development environment to deliver iterative, high-impact data solutions
  • Serve as a senior technical contributor and subject matter expert in data engineering best practices
  • Maintain documentation for data architecture, pipelines, and operational procedures
Schedule & Work Model
  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Local to Washington, D.C. preferred
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required (U.S. citizens or dual citizens only)
  • Public Trust clearance required or higher
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering and data platform development
  • 10+ years of experience designing and implementing ETL processes
  • 10+ years of experience working with Apache Kafka or streaming data technologies
  • 10+ years of experience with AWS cloud architectures and cloud-based data systems
  • 10+ years of experience using the Databricks Unified Data Analytics Platform
  • Advanced experience with data pipeline architecture and large-scale data processing
  • Strong experience supporting streaming and batch data integration methods
  • Experience working with cloud-based data engineering and infrastructure design
  • Proven ability to perform data platform optimization for performance and stability
  • Experience supporting consumer or product-focused analytics platforms preferred
  • Experience in government or regulated environments is a plus
