Overview

CommIT Enterprises is seeking a Mid DevOps Engineer with demonstrated expertise supporting projects for the Department of Defense (DoD) out of Stafford, VA, but this role can be REMOTE. This position will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the development, testing, engineering, and system management and administration of new weapons system builds.

The Mid DevOps Engineer will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the development, testing, engineering, and system management and administration of new weapons system builds. The Mid DevOps Engineer must also have an excellent understanding of, and experience in systems engineering, specifically software development and software testing. He/she should have knowledge of the software development life cycle, including system definition, development, design, analysis, control, integration, and testing. They should have knowledge and experience with Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy plans, policies, standards, and methods aimed at supporting engineering and integration efforts that are associated with the systems administration, software development, and security compliance of software builds for military systems. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense's (DoD) GCSS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran's Affairs' (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
  • Support software development and the implementation of machine-to-machine interfaces, end-to-end automation testing and development of automated and manual testing tools
  • Assist in the development of interoperability and data integrity test plans in support of interface accreditation
  • Assist Product Owners in the review of interface control documentation in support of the design and development of Systems of Systems (SoS) architectures
  • Provide technical expertise during programmatic events such as Technical Reviews, Status Meetings, Technical Interchange Meetings, Requirements Working Group Sessions, Test Working Group Sessions, Configuration Control Board Meetings, and Interface Control Board Meetings
  • Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting during test and integration events in support of the development of system external interfaces
  • Support the development and integration of CI/CD pipelines as software products and team capabilities mature
  • Maintain and implement internal Infrastructure as Code (IAC) systems and artifacts, leveraging industry standard tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
  • Maintain AWS or On-Prem Development environment, including quarterly Cyber Security updates and reporting
  • Maintain and implement new capabilities for a custom deployment tool, supporting many different types of deployment paradigms
  • Work with the development team to maintain a containerized deployment platform, leveraging Kubernetes and other industry standard deployment/scalability tools and assist with architectural changes supporting microservice operating paradigms and dynamic scalability and failover

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Thorough understanding of both DevOps and the Agile process
  • Three to five (3-5) years of professional experience
  • Two to Three (2-3) years of experience with Python preferred
  • Experience in the following preferred: C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core
  • Experience with relational databases: Postgres, MySQL, or SQLite
  • Extensive experience with Terraform, Ansible, and any modern CI/CD + Repo management systems (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab, Jira)
  • Knowledge of Aviation Command and Control Systems and Air Battle Management capabilities preferred
