Qualifications

1) Applying knowledge of dispatch operations and databases to support response to law enforcement, fire, medical, hazmat, and chemical, biological, nuclear, and explosive emergencies;
2) Interpreting emergency regulations, policies, directives, and techniques to provide personnel with necessary dispatching skills and training;
3) Obtaining accurate and detailed information during stressful situations to determine required emergency resources necessary; and
4) Recording pertinent dispatch-related data, events, and logs using necessary computer and office equipment.

Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.

- You will analyze incoming information in fire, medical, police emergencies to determine course of action.
- You will relay essential situational information (e.g., characteristics of locations and routes, additional units responding) to emergency responders to prevent confusion and improve reaction time of responding units.
- You will obtain relevant emergency information (e.g., location of caller, type of fire, nature of medical emergency) for dissemination to appropriate personnel.
- You will review the work of junior employees to verify effectiveness in achieving intended objectives.

- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
