Junior Vulnerability Analyst

Overview

As a Junior Vulnerability Analyst, you will play a vital role in identifying security weaknesses, evaluating their potential impact, and supporting timely remediation efforts. Location: 100% Remote

Clearance Needed: NIH Public Trust

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the severity and potential impact of discovered vulnerabilities
  • Prioritize remediation efforts based on risk levels to optimize security posture
  • Create detailed reports that outline findings, risk assessments, and recommended mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with system administrators and developers to address identified vulnerabilities
  • Verify and validate fixes to ensure vulnerabilities are effectively remediated
  • Support ongoing cybersecurity operations by assisting with vulnerability management tasks in a 24x7 cybersecurity environment

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and risk assessment
  • Experience with security tools and scanning software preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate across technical disciplines
  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity guidelines such as FISMA, HHS, DHS CISA is a plus

Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Prior experience with cybersecurity operations or vulnerability assessment roles
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or equivalent
  • Familiarity with incident response procedures and cyber threat intelligence
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation to support vulnerability remediation tasks
