Job Title: Cloud Engineer II
Location: Wright-Patterson (Dayton), OH (fully onsite)
Security Clearance Requirements: Active Secret Clearance - Top Secret Preferred
Certification Requirements: IAT Level II certification IAW DoD 8570/8140
Travel Requirements: Up to 20% (expected travel to Hanscom AFB, MA)
This position and the associated duties and responsibilities are contingent upon securing the necessary funding and formal contract award.

This Cloud Engineer II is in support of the Air Force.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Cloud Engineer, you will drive the stability and sustainability of cloud-based networks and software systems that support scalable and reliable operations. You will perform system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for complex systems. This role creates proactive engineering mechanisms that enable the team to manage the health and performance of distributed virtual machines and cloud-based infrastructure.
You will perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies for hardware and software specifications. You will utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement within existing frameworks, tools, and processes, while addressing system functionality, performance, and configuration issues.
This position operates within a modern multi-cloud environment and supports enterprise initiatives focused on Zero Trust Architecture, cloud modernization, and migration from legacy or on-premise systems to cloud-native platforms across providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Microsoft Azure.
Tasks the Contractor shall perform include, but are not limited to:
• Design, develop, evaluate, and modify system-oriented products throughout their life cycle
• Generate system requirements based on customer descriptions, system planning and acquisition logistics
• Ensure compliance with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop lower-level implementation requirements
• Support development of standards, practices, and procedures related to product development
• Design and integrate system interfaces to ensure seamless interoperability of system components
• Participate in design reviews to ensure traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation
• Support systems engineering activities across multi-cloud environments including AWS, OCI, and Azure
• Assist with modernization efforts including migration of legacy or on-premise systems to cloud-native architectures
• Support implementation of Zero Trust security principles, including Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) practices
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Years of Experience: 5-8 years of relevant Cloud / System Engineering experience.
• Management experience a plus.
Degree/Education and Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work will be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
• Work assignments vary based on client requirements.
• Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
• General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
• Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory.
• You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work
• Candidates must exhibit professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels.
