Job Description

Marathon TS is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineering professional to join our team within the Mission Performance & Security Systems Division. This role involves supporting complex sensing and communication platforms used by national defense initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in supporting large-scale defense systems, with a focus on their conception, design, integration, and deployment phases-from initial requirements gathering to operational implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and sustain comprehensive system architectures and interface specifications for sophisticated sensing and communication networks.
Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques utilizing tools like Cameo Systems Modeler to craft detailed system models, covering requirements, behaviors, interfaces, and architectural perspectives.
Convert operational needs into detailed technical specifications and model representations, ensuring full traceability from mission objectives to system design.
Support the entire systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements management, architecture creation, system integration, testing, verification, and validation.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams-including hardware, software, networking, and data engineers-to facilitate seamless system integration.
Conduct technical trade studies, performance evaluations, and risk assessments to guide project decision-making.
Aid in the integration of distributed sensor platforms, data pipelines, and communication infrastructure.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, interface control documents, and baseline artifacts derived from models.
Ensure all system designs adhere to DoD interoperability, cybersecurity, and data exchange standards.
Engage subject matter experts across relevant fields to gather and formalize architectural knowledge into model artifacts proactively.
Identify gaps within system models and coordinate with stakeholders to address and resolve these deficiencies promptly.

Basic Qualifications:

US citizenship with an active Secret clearance (must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance).
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degrees are a plus.
Between 6 to 12 years supporting Defense Department programs, with direct experience in using SysML-based tools like Cameo Systems Modeler for system architecture development, requirements traceability, and system-of-systems modeling.

Core Competencies:

Proven track record working on large-scale sensing, surveillance, or communication systems.
Experience supporting space, airborne, or distributed sensor architectures.
Strong expertise in MBSE methodologies and practical experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
Ability to operate independently across organizational lines and foster consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
Familiarity with DoD standards related to data interoperability, mission architecture, and enterprise data management.
Deep understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements development, architecture design, integration, and testing within complex environments.
Experience working across multiple platforms and data sources in system-of-systems contexts.
Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for varied audiences including engineers, program managers, and operational personnel.

Preferred Skills:

Hands-on experience with system integration events, operational demonstrations, or field exercises.
Knowledge of real-time data exchange protocols, communication standards, or distributed data systems.
Background working with multi-domain sensing or command-and-control systems.
Experience modeling multi-level security or cross-domain solutions in complex architectures.
