Job Description
Marathon TS is looking for an experienced Delivery Lead / Scrum Master to oversee the execution of complex technical projects within the Mission Performance & Security Systems Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding a talented engineering team through the delivery of a national security space initiative, ensuring timely completion, clear prioritization, and disciplined workflows. This role involves managing sprint cycles, backlog grooming, milestone achievement, and coordinating across multiple technical disciplines. You will work closely with project leadership and engineering teams spanning software, cloud, infrastructure, and systems integration to convert high-level objectives into manageable work plans, proactively identify risks, and eliminate obstacles before they impact progress. The successful individual will foster an environment of disciplined delivery, organize efforts effectively, and extend these practices across additional programs to establish organizational standards for success.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Agile delivery lifecycle, including sprint planning, standup meetings, review sessions, and retrospectives
Collaborate with the project manager to maintain and prioritize the task backlog, ensuring clarity, scope, and alignment with project milestones
Monitor progress against quarterly goals, providing transparent status updates for executive oversight
Detect and escalate potential risks, dependencies, or blockers early, taking proactive measures to resolve issues
Define and uphold standards for completion, acceptance criteria, and workflow processes
Coordinate efforts across various workstreams such as cloud services, lab infrastructure, and systems engineering teams
Manage team capacity planning to prevent overcommitment and maintain sustainable workloads
Improve project management practices, including issue tracking, reporting, and workflow conventions
Extend effective delivery practices to additional initiatives as organizational capacity grows
Qualifications:
Clearance: Active U.S. Secret clearance is required; Top-Secret/SCI clearance is highly preferred
Citizenship: US citizenship is mandatory
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, project management, or a related technical field
Advanced degrees are advantageous
Experience:
Over 8 years leading development projects, managing agile teams, or serving as a delivery lead within DoD or other national security domains
Essential Skills:
Proven experience in managing agile workflows for engineering teams of 5-15 members, especially within classified or regulated environments
Hands-on familiarity with DevSecOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and integrated project management systems (issue tracking, code review workflows, pipeline monitoring)
Deep understanding of defense-specific delivery constraints, including classification, compliance documentation, government review cycles, and stakeholder coordination
Ability to translate broad program goals into detailed, prioritized work items with clear acceptance standards
Excellent communication skills, including delivering concise leadership updates and facilitating productive team discussions
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Scrum, SAFe, PMI-ACP, or PMP
Knowledge of DevSecOps ecosystems, containerization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and related workflows
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML v2 modeling tools
Background in managing delivery for multi-domain or classified system integration efforts
Familiarity with Department of Defense acquisition procedures, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements
Experience supporting space, satellite, or missile defense programs, especially with remote or distributed teams
