Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and consolidate AN/BLQ-10 technical data for delivery as Government Furnished Information (GFI) to the Planning Yard in support of Ship Alteration (SHIPALT) development across all U.S. submarine classes.
- Prepare, review, and revise Liaison Action Requests (LARs) to implement official changes to released SHIPALT drawings.
- Provide platform-specific mechanical design input to customer to prevent installation conflicts, improve maintainability, and ensure an effective operational environment for ship's force.
- Participate in mechanical design reviews.
- Review technical drawing drafts, assembly drawings, and 3D models.
- Develop and maintain Interface Control Drawings (ICDs) between AN/BLQ-10 and interfacing submarine subsystems.
- Conduct shipchecks to validate installation feasibility, identify potential conflicts, and mitigate risks to SHIPALT execution.
- Develop and review drawing packages and support technical data package (TDP) development..
- Review and develop test plans and perform risk assessments.
- Respond to ad hoc technical tasking from customers.
Qualifications
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- BS 0-2 Years
- Must possess and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Knowledge of U.S. submarine platforms and operating environments.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools.
- Familiarity with Visio or similar engineering documentation tools is a plus.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., CMMI) is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
- Self-starter with initiative and the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Understanding of DoD engineering design practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, specifically AN/BLQ-10, is a plus.
