Strategic Analysis, Inc. is seeking a candidate to provide scientific support with Computational Biology expertise. The successful candidate will support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in managing and developing programs in high-risk, high-reward research and development (R&D) projects. A key element of this role is proactive communication, both written and oral, with key stakeholders including performers, supporting organizations, military transition partners, and international collaborators. Programs related to process scale-up of biotechnology (from bench to pilot); modularization of biotechnological processes; high-throughput Metallo-biology assessment; quantum mechanical and molecular models; Artificial-Intelligence & machine learning for hierarchical environmental model development; inorganic chemistry; solvent extractions; process-flow sheets and business development; IP/patent law. The candidate is expected to function as part of a strongly collaborative scientific and technical team, but also to act independently to complete time-critical tasks. The candidate must be comfortable in working at security levels across the spectrum from unclassified open discussion potentially with foreign nationals to collateral classified programs with validated higher levels of need-to-know. 

Required Capabilities and Characteristics: 



1.) Seeking a highly skilled and motivated SETA to support the conceptualization, development, and execution of cutting-edge DARPA programs.

2.) Ability to support the development and management of new programs in strategic communication. 

3.) Experience in computational biology, quantum mechanical models, physics and/or biophysics, biochemistry, metallo-biology, materials science, geochemistry, synthetic biology, genetics, test and evaluation, and experience in IP/patent law and licensing. 

4.) Experience in research related to 2nd-order molecular interactions and coordination chemistry are a plus. 

5.) Excellent technical writing skills and organization are required. 

6.) Must be able to communicate complex scientific ideas to diverse audiences and synthesize research findings and insights across a broad range of biotechnological areas. 

7.) Additional ability to identify opportunities for scientific innovation, and handle a wide variety of tasks, such as briefing support and general administrative actions is required.  

8.) Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team and handle a wide variety of tasks, including briefing support, program management, and general administrative actions. 

 Key Responsibilities: 



1.) Assist in the conceptualization and design of various DARPA programs technologies.          

3.) Monitor and evaluate the progress of funded research programs, providing feedback and recommendations to Program Manager. 

4.) Support project development and management advancing biological-metal interactions and quantum mechanical modeling.

Identify emerging trends and opportunities to inform future program directions. 

5.) Facilitate collaboration between DARPA, academic institutions, industry partners, and government stakeholders.

6.)  Prepare technical reports, briefings, and presentations to communicate program progress and outcomes. 

7.) Other duties as assigned.

 

Education: Ph.D. Computational Biology, Quantum Physics, or similar degree.

Clearance: DoD TS/SCI security clearance is preferred, must have a secret clearance.
