Tharros is seeking a Cyber Security Vulnerability Researcher to conduct research into fundamental computer and information science in support of NAWCAD Cyber Warfare Division programs at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
The CSVR conducts advanced vulnerability discovery, exploitation development, and security assessment across weapons systems, enterprise networks, and embedded platforms. This position contributes to red team operations, cooperative vulnerability assessments, and the development of cyber threat emulation capabilities for the NAVAIR platform set.

Tharros is seeking a Cyber Security Vulnerability Researcher to conduct research into fundamental computer and information science in support of NAWCAD Cyber Warfare Division programs at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
The CSVR conducts advanced vulnerability discovery, exploitation development, and security assessment across weapons systems, enterprise networks, and embedded platforms. This position contributes to red team operations, cooperative vulnerability assessments, and the development of cyber threat emulation capabilities for the NAVAIR platform set.
- Conduct research into fundamental computer and information science as theorists, designers, or inventors
- Study the theory, structure, and design of digital and analog components, circuits, networks, and algorithms to identify exploitable vulnerabilities
- Perform vulnerability discovery, exploitation development, and proof-of-concept creation for weapons systems and enterprise environments
- Conduct cooperative vulnerability assessments and adversarial security testing (red team operations)
- Develop and refine cyber threat emulation tools, techniques, and procedures
- Produce technical vulnerability reports documenting findings, risk assessments, and remediation recommendations
- Support cyber test and evaluation events with vulnerability analysis and exploitation expertise
- Collaborate with systems engineers, forensic analysts, and network architects on holistic security assessments
Requirements
- Active TS, SCI Eligible
- DCWF qualification: CSWF Code 111, 221, 461, 511, 531, 541, 612, or 622
- 7 years of experience performing vulnerability research, OR meets military equivalent OJT requirement
- Demonstrated experience with reverse engineering, binary analysis, and exploitation development
- Experience conducting vulnerability assessments in DoD classified environments
