Job Description
Position Description/Summary:

The Building People is seeking a Facility Supervisor (Shift Supervisor) for a federal government facility operations and maintenance contract. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing on-site operations during assigned shifts, directing engineering and trades personnel, and ensuring all facility systems are operated and maintained in accordance with contract requirements.

Job Description/Duties
  • Ensure all assigned facility systems are continuously monitored, operated, and maintained during the shift.
  • Respond to and direct resolution of service calls within required timeframes.
  • Make all critical operational decisions for contract performance in the absence of the Project Manager.
  • Ensure shift personnel adhere to all safety, environmental, and contract requirements.
  • Supervise on-site engineering and trades personnel during assigned shifts.
  • Perform and oversee equipment checks of all major building systems at required frequencies.
  • Direct response and resolution of emergency, urgent, and routine service calls.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance activities and ensure all work is documented in the CMMS.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager on operational issues, outages, and safety concerns.
  • Support the IRS Occupancy Emergency Plan (OEP) during drills and actual emergencies.

Performance Standards:
  • All assigned building systems are continuously monitored and maintained throughout each shift.
  • Service calls are received, classified, and resolved within required response and completion timeframes.
  • All work performed during the shift is accurately documented in the CMMS.
  • Safety and environmental requirements are upheld at all times.
  • Shift operations continue without interruption in the absence of the Project Manager.
Skills & Requirements
Qulifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years of recent experience (within the past seven (7) years) in the operation and maintenance of building HVAC and mechanical systems at the journeyman level. Hands-on knowledge of operating chiller plants, boiler systems, and associated building equipment required.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple roles and levels of authority.
  • Experience working in environments requiring security clearances preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing personnel records and official submissions.
