Physical Therapist (Extended School Year Program)
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Physical Therapist to provide services to students participating in an Extended School Year (ESY) program. The Physical Therapist will support students with disabilities by delivering therapy services aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), with an emphasis on maintaining and improving functional mobility, physical access, and independence in the educational setting.
This position plays an important role in supporting student progress and minimizing regression of skills during the summer program.

Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Physical Therapist to provide services to students participating in an Extended School Year (ESY) program. The Physical Therapist will support students with disabilities by delivering therapy services aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), with an emphasis on maintaining and improving functional mobility, physical access, and independence in the educational setting.
This position plays an important role in supporting student progress and minimizing regression of skills during the summer program.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students in accordance with IEP requirements.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support student mobility, access, and participation in educational activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and other multidisciplinary team members to support student success.
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Participate in team meetings and maintain ongoing communication with program staff and case managers.
- Evaluate and recommend adaptations to equipment and environments to promote safe and effective student participation.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and program requirements.
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Active Physical Therapist license in the state of Pennsylvania, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students who have a wide range of physical, developmental, and educational needs.
- Experience providing physical therapy services in educational or pediatric settings.
- Knowledge of special education processes, including IEP development and implementation.
- Experience supporting students with orthopedic, neurological, developmental, and/or medically complex conditions.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams in a school-based environment.
Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain all required clearances and certifications, including:
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Check (Act 34)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
- FBI Criminal Background Check (Act 114), when applicable
- Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Forms
- Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification
- Mandated Reporter Training Certification (Act 126)
- Any additional health or employment requirements as required by the hiring organization
- School-based ESY setting
- Collaboration across classrooms, therapy spaces, and educational environments
- Physical demands may include lifting, positioning, transferring, and assisting students as needed
- Frequent interaction with students, staff, and families to support educational and therapeutic outcomes
- Seasonal ESY assignment
- Monday through Thursday
- Daytime schedule during the summer program period
