Senior AI and ML Solutions Architect
Ashburn, VA / Hybrid

Blu Omega is seeking a Senior AI and ML Solutions Architect to support a CBP program focused on enterprise cloud and integration services. This role operates within a hybrid cloud environment and is responsible for leading AI/ML solution architecture, design, and delivery across complex, regulated mission needs. The position requires experience supporting AI strategy and implementation within a mission-driven environment.
Program Overview
CBP's Enterprise Cloud & Integration Services (ECIS) program supports the acquisition and integration of commercial cloud services across on premise and hybrid environments, enabling development, containerization, API frameworks, data tagging/tracking, and high availability operations.
Key Details
Location: Ashburn, VA / Hybrid (local to Ashburn preferred; onsite frequency is flexible based on where the employee lives)
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination
Responsibilities
Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI solution architecture and strategy to address client business problems and needs while aligning to organizational strategies, business goals, and ethical considerations
- Lead end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of complex AI programs
- Develop and maintain AI/ML roadmaps, perform Analysis of Alternatives, and make defensible technical tradeoff decisions
- Manage a portfolio of AI initiatives across varying maturity levels and advise Director and Executive-level leadership on CTO-aligned strategy
- Design, build, and deploy advanced AI systems, including Generative AI, AI Agents, LLMs, Reinforcement Learning, and computer vision models
- Build and scale secure, compliant MLOps and CI/CD pipelines and deploy solutions into highly regulated environments
- Transform technical R&D outputs into enterprise-grade, governed, security-aligned offerings that integrate with business workflows
- Communicate complex AI concepts clearly and provide actionable insights to senior leaders and operational stakeholders while remaining hands on for rapid prototyping and demos
- Mentor or supervise employees in both company and technical competencies
- 8+ years of experience with data science, machine learning (ML), deep learning, or AI, including leading end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of complex AI programs
- Experience developing and maintaining AI/ML roadmaps, performing Analysis of Alternatives, and making defensible technical tradeoff decisions
- Experience managing a portfolio of AI initiatives across varying maturity levels and advising Director and Executive-level leadership on CTO-aligned strategy
- Experience designing, building, and deploying advanced AI systems including Generative AI, AI Agents, LLMs, Reinforcement Learning, and computer vision models
- Experience building and scaling secure, compliant MLOps and CI/CD pipelines and deploying solutions into highly regulated environments
- Ability to apply cloud and engineering expertise across AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm, Linux, and AI services such as SageMaker, Vertex AI, Bedrock, or Gemini
- Ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly, providing actionable insights to senior leaders and operational stakeholders while remaining hands on for rapid prototyping and demos
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination based on client requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a CS, Engineering, or Data Science field
- Experience with Edge deployments and optimization strategies, including quantization, pruning, and knowledge distillation
- Experience with MLOps for production and ML workloads
- Experience working with cybersecurity teams to develop and review technical documentation and security control implementation required to achieve and maintain ATO
Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
