About the Role
Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a DevOps Engineer who is considered an emerging authority in the field. In this role, you will be the engine behind our continuous delivery, designing and building solutions to deploy applications in customer-facing environments. You will apply extensive technical expertise to automate the operational aspects of our solutions via code, ensuring that our development, testing, and release activities are fast, secure, and reliable. This position offers considerable latitude to determine objectives and approaches, allowing you to shape the infrastructure that supports our nation's most critical data transformations.

$175,000 - $185,000 a year
The salary range provided for this position represents the anticipated base salary for successful candidates. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, security clearance level, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in Redhorse's comprehensive benefits programs and may be eligible for performance-based or other incentive compensation, where applicable.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and build innovative solutions to deploy applications in customer-facing environments.
- Automate operational aspects of the solution via code to minimize manual intervention.
- Focus on the automation of internal development, testing, and release activities to ensure continuous delivery.
- Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure to support evolving project needs.
- Translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements for the development team.
- Continuously research and implement ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
- Test and examine code written by others, analyzing results to maintain high performance and reliability.
- Ensure all systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats by integrating security into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Identify technical problems and develop efficient software updates and "fixes."
- Work closely with software developers and engineers to ensure development follows established processes.
- Manage complex infrastructure projects and processes from design through implementation.
- Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning (Infrastructure as Code).
- Handle code deployments across all environments, ensuring stability and minimal downtime.
- Monitor system metrics and develop data-driven ways to improve performance.
- Provide technical guidance and educate team members on development and operations best practices.
- Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards to ensure environment consistency.
Required Experience/Clearance
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience OR a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated expertise as an emerging authority in DevOps practices and principles.
- Proven experience in automating the development, testing, and release processes for large-scale software.
- Extensive experience with infrastructure provisioning and automation tools.
- Strong technical background in identifying and fixing complex system-level problems.
Desired Experience
We encourage all candidates who meet the basic requirements to apply, even if you do not have any of the following experience:
- Proficiency with GitLab for CI/CD pipeline management and version control.
- Experience using Jira to track stakeholder requirements and manage project workflows.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools to analyze system metrics and improve performance.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading technical workgroups.
