Platform Engineer (Junior to Mid Level)

We deliver cleared platform engineering, DevSecOps, and AI/ML infrastructure for the Intelligence Community and DoD. As a small company, you'll work directly with leadership and your contributions will be seen.
The Opportunity
R2DTS has been awarded a new 7-year contract supporting a critical national security mission. We are looking for a Platform Engineer who wants to grow their career on a long-term program. This role is a good fit for someone early to mid career who is eager to learn, takes ownership, and wants to build hands-on expertise in enterprise container platforms. We will invest in your training and certifications.
What You'll Do
Deploy, configure, and maintain multiple Red Hat OpenShift clusters supporting a hybrid cloud environment and NVIDIA GPU HPC cluster.
Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems, primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Support application teams in deploying and operating containerized workloads and Virtual Machines
Automate routine tasks and platform configuration using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
Monitor platform health, respond to incidents, and help resolve issues
Apply security controls and support compliance in a classified environment
Document procedures, configurations, and lessons learned
Learn from senior engineers and contribute to platform improvements
Required Qualifications
Active [TS/SCI with CI Polygraph] clearance
[1+] years of experience in systems administration, platform engineering, DevOps, or a related field
Hands-on experience with Linux system administration (Red Hat preferred)
Experience with container orchestration, such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, or similar
Familiarity with containers (Podman or Docker)
Basic automation skills (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
A strong willingness to learn and a collaborative attitude
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, or OpenShift Administrator), or willingness to earn them
Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or other automation tools
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps tools (GitLab, Argo CD)
DoD 8140 / 8570 compliant certification (for example, Security+)
Experience working in air-gapped or classified environments
