Warehouse Specialist (1061)

Position Overview

Perform a variety of warehousing duties as directed, requiring an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Work involves most of the following: verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. This worker may operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify materials or merchandise against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages.
• Route materials to prescribed storage locations.
• Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
• Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials.
• Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage.
• Remove material from storage and preparing it for shipment.
• Operate hand or power trucks, motor vehicles, and material handling equipment in performing warehousing duties.
• Utilize a computer-based inventory and bar-coding system for entry, identification and tracking of material.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; Vocational training commensurate with Department of Labor functional description.
• At least two (2) years of warehouse experience, to include performing inventory, staging, packing, storage and shipping of electronic equipment and related material.
• Demonstrated experience operating motor vehicles and material handling equipment.
• Proficiency in utilizing a computer-based inventory and bar-coding system for entry, identification and tracking of material.
• Adequate experience performing the duties of the labor category as described in the Department of Labor functional description.
• Must have valid driver's license.
