Akima Systems Engineering (ASE), an Akima company, is seeking a Software Engineer to support a maritime surveillance technologies in complex, contested environments. This role directly supports the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) mission by developing resilient, mission-critical software and hardware solutions. Location: Hybrid (Must live within commuting distance of Alexandria, VA) Travel: Up to 25% (U.S. only) Clearance: Active Secret required Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, test, and deploy innovative software solutions • Build and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Java, JavaScript) • Support cloud, on-prem, and edge computing environments • Manage containerized applications using Docker & Kubernetes • Implement monitoring, logging, and DevSecOps best practices • Troubleshoot and optimize performance across distributed systems • Collaborate across engineering and program teams in agile environments Required Qualifications: • U.S. Citizenship with active Secret clearance • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field • 4+ years of experience with languages such as Python, Java, C++, .NET, SQL • Experience with CI/CD, distributed systems, and system integration/testing • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and mission-critical platforms • Familiarity with embedded systems, FPGA, or SDR technologies (USRP, HackRF, BladeRF preferred) • Strong problem-solving and communication skills If interested, contact me for details.
